Customers & Clean Energy

The Customer-Centered Clean Energy Transition: Balancing Technology, People & the Planet

State and electric company objectives for further transitioning to clean energy vary significantly across the country, as do the timelines and specific approaches for achieving those objectives.  At the same time, states and electric companies grapple with similar opportunities and challenges in the transition.  Thus, collaboration among state commissioners, consumer advocates, and electric companies on these issues offers exceptional value.  While it remains to be seen whether and how the federal government will provide additional policy direction, CCIF endeavors to help best position states for their continued leadership on meeting the growing demand for clean energy while maintaining resilient, reliable electric service at just and reasonable rates.  To that end, CCIF will facilitate a series of collaborative dialogues aimed at identifying and addressing several critical issues, such as how to:

  • Encourage adoption of a range of transformational technologies that will be necessary to timely achieve clean energy objectives, while maintaining reliability and just and reasonable rates; and
  • Provide for a just transition for all customers, with specific emphasis on economically impacted communities.

CCIF’s July 2022 report on these issues may be downloaded here.
